Most of the registrars have introduced a credit card
purchase process similar to that used by countless other online merchants.
As such, Data-Vision, Inc. must now collect for the cost of the
domain name in advance. Per InterNIC, this is designed to give customers
greater flexibility in securing products and services.
The credit card payment process will be the primary payment option
for all new Web Address registrations.
Why
the change?
The
logic behind the credit card purchase system is two-fold, and serves to
simplify and enhance our customers' overall registration experience.
First,
this change will expedite the purchase process, affording you a
convenient, immediate means of securing Web addresses and other
value-added services through Data-Vision, Inc. and from InterNIC. Fast,
secure, and reliable ordering and payment will be completed in one
session, eliminating the need to generate payment checks and paperwork
on your end, and minimizing the risk of lost or deactivated
registrations due to late payments.
Second,
the new purchase process will discourage "cybersquatters" and
other speculators who register Web Addresses under false pretenses
merely to make them unavailable to others. The benefit to legitimate Web
Address registrants is clear: thousands of Web Addresses will be
returned to the market as these non-paying entities are weeded out of
the system.
WHO
will be affected by the new registration payment process?
Since
the credit card purchase process will be the default setting for new
Web Address registrations, all Data-Vision customers are affected by
this change.
